A photo assistant on a fashion shoot in New Orleans scribbled her mother’s dressing recipe down on a piece of notepaper with a bright red pen, which got me started in obsessing about this incredible dressing. While my version is substancially different from hers (she used Pepperidge Farm herb seasoning and frozen spinach), and mine is not traditionally Southern, at all, it’s become a favorite amongst my friends and I now make it every year, no-matter-what.
